August 1st-9th It's the 28th LarkCamp in Mendocino, CA. Mark started teaching slack there about 15 or 16 years ago; this year he'll be joined by Maui slack key legend Kevin Brown and hula dancer Robyn Mahealani Kneubuhl. And don't forget Fun With Your ‘Ukulele!

October 18th & 19th It's Uketober Fest; Eugene's own celebration of all things `ukulele. Guess what Mark will play.? He'll teach some stuff, too.

November 1st & 2nd Mark teaches a pair of workshops each day at Dusty Strings in Seattle
Saturday - Slack Key Guitar
Explore the great finger-style guitar tradition from Hawaii. Slack Key uses open tunings and finger picking to play both melody and accompaniment at the same time. You should be reasonably familiar with your guitar - best for those with some finger picking experience. We’ll play in a couple of different tunings and learn some of the classic repertoire. Music and TAB provided.
Sunday - Fingerstyle Solos for ‘Ukulele
Learn to play melodic solos on your uke. One session for beginners, one for intermediate/Advanced level players; you should know all your basic chords and strums. We’ll learn both chord-melody and Hawaiian-style melodic techniques. Music and TAB provided. Best for ‘ukulele with high G tuning, low G ukers welcome.
